"Stefan Brisland-Ferner is probably best known from Garmarna, but he has also played with Thåström and other rock artists, and the dark, somewhat industrial sounds is present in his music for the theater performance Bergtagna.
All songs except one are instrumental, but several can, together with the titles, give the listener a picture of what is happening, even for me who has not seen the play. Festen is a dancefilled, groovy polska, Jakten is intense with a dark beat and Midsommar is beautiful with only strings and an electronic rhythm in the background. Brisland-Ferner plays viola, violin, hurdy gurdy and synth and has programmed the beats, and has the help of Maria Jonsson on viola d'amore and Olle Markensten on percussion and synth.
The contrast between the string sounds and the electronic basses and rhythms, as well as between the more intense and the calmer songs, is extremely evocative and suggestive, and although the effect has certainly been even greater in the play itself, Bergtagna is a little more than half an hour of music that can definitely stand on its own legs."
